Contract with Aprilia becomes obstacle for Jorge Martin’s move to Honda

Jorge Martin’s move to Honda faces a serious obstacle — unresolved contract issues with Aprilia. While Martin and his manager, Albert Valera, claim there’s a special clause, this still needs to be proven to Honda.

Honda team manager Alberto Puig has confirmed their interest in the most successful rider of the 2024 season. However, the Wings manufacturer requires clarity on the contract dispute between Martin and Aprilia — a case that could potentially go to court if no agreement is reached.

“We don’t make contracts with riders who are still under contract. Of course, Martin is an option for us if he doesn’t have a contract,” Puig stated during last week’s Dutch MotoGP.

The current situation remains unclear for Honda — the team continues to wait for certainty without any set deadline.
