Connor Zilisch makes history as youngest Dover winner in rain-shortened race

Connor Zilisch made history at Dover Motor Speedway after winning the rain-shortened NASCAR Xfinity race. Driving the No. 88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, the 18-year-old driver secured his fifth career victory — breaking Kyle Busch’s record as the youngest driver to reach this milestone.

Aric Almirola finished second, followed by Brandon Jones in third. Justin Allgaier and Jesse Love completed the top five, while positions six through ten were claimed by:

  • Ryan Sieg
  • Taylor Gray
  • Sheldon Creed
  • William Sawalich
  • Christian Eckes

Taylor Gray initially led from pole position and won the first stage, but a problematic pit stop cost him track position — opening the door for Zilisch to take command of the race.

“The gear broke,” explained Ross Chastain to The CW after experiencing mechanical issues that forced him out alongside Nick Sanchez in the early part of stage three.

Rain forced a yellow flag with 69 laps remaining. NASCAR ultimately displayed the red flag — making this the first NASCAR Xfinity race shortened by rain since the Chicago Street Course series two years ago.
