Columbus Crew signs Palestine striker Wessam Abou Ali

Columbus Crew has secured the services of Palestine international striker Wessam Abou Ali for a reported transfer fee of $7.5 million from Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly.

The 26-year-old joins as a designated player with a contract through 2027 — including an extension option for 2028.

“Wessam is a special player whose journey reflects resilience, character, and tireless work ethic — qualities we value at our Club,” said Crew General Manager Issa Tall.

The Denmark-born striker has an impressive record with Al Ahly — scoring 38 goals and providing 10 assists in 60 matches across all competitions. His achievements include:

  • Two consecutive Egyptian Premier League titles
  • Egyptian Super Cup trophy
  • CAF Champions League victory
  • Egyptian Premier League top scorer with 18 goals
  • Hat-trick against FC Porto in FIFA Club World Cup

After representing Denmark at youth level, Abou Ali switched to the Palestine national team last year and has scored four goals in 10 appearances during 2026 World Cup qualification.
