Collision Incident at Italian MotoGP, Morbidelli Misses Podium Chance

Franco Morbidelli of Pertamina Enduro VR46 team – lost his podium opportunity at Italian MotoGP after an incident with Maverick Vinales at Mugello Circuit.

The situation unfolded when both riders engaged in intense battle for top four position – ending in collision on lap nine after the straight section.

The incident occurred as Morbidelli attempted an inside overtake – resulting in Vinales from Red Bull KTM Tech3 team being thrown into the gravel area. As a consequence, Valentino Rossi’s pupil received a long lap penalty.

“I’m happy with the speed. We recorded the fastest lap in the race,” stated Morbidelli to MotoGP.com. “I tried to manage the tires as best as possible and made a mistake at Turn 1.”

Despite the penalty, Morbidelli managed to finish sixth position – while setting the fastest lap time of 1 minute 46.474 seconds.
