Cole Palmer ended his goal drought as Chelsea secured a 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have now climbed to fifth place in the Premier League table following this crucial win.

Enzo Fernández opened the scoring for Chelsea, followed by an own goal from Jarell Quansah that doubled the lead. Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for Liverpool, but Palmer sealed the win with a stoppage-time penalty.

The 22-year-old — who joined from Manchester City about 18 months ago — had been struggling in front of goal, going 13 consecutive matches without scoring, after initially recording 36 goals and 17 assists in his first 54 appearances.

“Social media is full of idiots. I don’t pay attention to it. I scored today and I’m happy, but it’s just one goal. I have to keep improving to reach the next level,” said Cole Palmer.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who rotated six players, insisted his team performed well despite the defeat.

“We came back from 2-0 down and didn’t give up, but like I said before — the margins are very fine,” Slot explained.
