Colapinto’s future at Alpine uncertain after disappointing results

According to F1 paddock information, Franco Colapinto’s future at Alpine is now in doubt — team executive advisor Flavio Briatore has changed his stance following three disappointing races.

Colapinto’s Alpine journey began with troubles in Imola — the Argentine driver received a grid penalty due to radio instruction misunderstanding and later crashed at Tamburello.

In Monaco, the situation didn’t improve when Colapinto was eliminated in Q1 and finished 13th, two laps down. While in Spain — technical issues in qualifying and a 15th place finish further compromised his position.

“I don’t know at this moment if Franco will stay for the season or not, but let’s see. Depends on the performance. We’re only looking at the performance – nothing else,” stated Briatore.

Although rumors circulate about Sergio Perez as a replacement, more realistic options include test driver Paul Aron currently competing in F2, or even Jack Doohan who remains the team’s reserve driver.
