Coach Who Trusted Jay Idzes as Captain Departs Venezia

Eusebio Di Francesco — the coach who appointed Jay Idzes as Venezia’s captain — has officially ended his cooperation with the club despite having one year remaining on his contract.

This decision comes after Venezia’s relegation to Serie B following their 19th place finish in Serie A standings — both parties agreed to an early separation.

“For me, Venezia was not just a professional stage but also an intense and authentic experience that I will always remember,” Di Francesco stated through the club’s official website.

“Today, with respect and gratitude, I choose to take a different path, but I leave Venezia knowing that I have gained important experience.”

Di Francesco was a key figure for Indonesian national team captain Jay Idzes — from the season’s start, the former AS Roma midfielder immediately placed full trust in Idzes as both first-choice player and team captain.
