Club World Cup Stadiums Only 56 Percent Full During Group Stage

According to FIFA data, the Club World Cup is experiencing attendance issues — stadiums were only filled to 56.7 percent of total capacity during 48 group stage matches.

From a total capacity of 2.95 million seats, only 1.67 million spectators attended, averaging 34,746 fans per match. Some venues recorded particularly low attendance figures — such as Orlando with 3,412 spectators and Cincinnati with 5,282 spectators.

MetLife Stadium in New Jersey — set to host the 2026 World Cup final — only achieved 44.9 percent attendance. The Rose Bowl in California similarly reached just 50 percent of its capacity.

The tournament’s round of 16 is dominated by European teams with nine representatives, followed by four teams from Brazil, and one each from MLS, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.

“The appetite for the tournament speaks for itself: fans from 168 countries have already purchased tickets… a clear sign of global anticipation and reach,” stated FIFA’s official release.

In broadcasting terms, an average of 360,000 viewers watched 12 matches with English commentary on TNT, TBS, and truTV networks.
