Club Brugge vs Red Bull Salzburg: UEFA Champions League Prediction (12.08.2025)

On Tuesday, August 12, at 22:30 Astana time, at the Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges, local club Club Brugge will host Red Bull Salzburg in the second leg of the 2025–2026 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. In the first match, the Belgian side earned a narrow 1–0 away win.

For the return leg, bookmakers give Club Brugge significantly higher chances of success. A home win in regular time is priced at 1.62, while their qualification to the next round is at 1.07. For the “Red Bulls,” the same markets are set at 4.85 and 8.35, respectively. Football analysts expect more goals than in the first meeting: over 2.5 total goals is offered at 1.65, while both teams to score is priced at 1.70.

Club Brugge

In Nicky Hayen’s side, two players stood out in the first leg. The first was 21-year-old forward Romeo Vermant, the scorer of the decisive goal. This striker appears to be enjoying the best season of his young career so far, earning starting roles and the coach’s trust even after less-than-perfect performances. Last season, Vermant was seen mainly as an impact substitute.
The other standout was the experienced goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, whose saves kept the clean sheet intact. Credit is also due to the defence, marshalled effectively by 32-year-old centre-back Brandon Mechele.

Red Bull Salzburg

Thomas Leach’s side were far from toothless in their home leg, showing attacking intent and taking plenty of shots. However, some lacked precision, and others were denied by the opposition keeper. The right flank was less effective than the left, producing fewer dangerous moments. The coaching staff will be expecting more threat and involvement from 24-year-old Yorbe Vertessen, tasked with leading the team’s attacking play.

Statistics and Head-to-Head

The first-leg stats show that Red Bull Salzburg are far from out of it. They led in total shots 20–12 and in xG (1.82 to 1.40). Shots on target and corners were level at 5–5 and 6–6, respectively.

Prediction

The visitors are likely to attack aggressively from the start. The hosts have the tools to hit back with sharp, decisive counters. The tip is both teams to score at odds of 1.70.
