Christian Horner stands firm on Red Bull’s protests against Mercedes at Canadian GP

Christian Horner, Red Bull Formula 1 team principal, maintains he has no regrets about his team’s decision to file two protests against Mercedes after the Canadian GP — as reported by Sky Sports F1.

The Milton Keynes-based team filed protests regarding George Russell’s erratic driving and excessive gap behind the safety car. After a five-hour examination, the FIA ultimately rejected both protests.

“No, absolutely not. It’s a team’s right. We saw something that we didn’t think was quite right, and we had the opportunity to present it to the stewards. So that’s what we chose to do. Absolutely no regrets,” Horner explained.

Russell retained his victory, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished second and rookie driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured third place.

“I think this was the best result we could achieve. We struggled with tires in the first two stints, so we implemented an aggressive strategy. Fortunately, in the final stint we managed to hold on and the pace was better with lower fuel load,” Verstappen stated.
