Christian Horner fired from Red Bull Racing after 20 years of leadership

Christian Horner has been dismissed from his position as Red Bull Racing team principal — a decision that ends over two decades of leadership that yielded six constructors’ titles and eight drivers’ championships.

The dismissal comes amid various issues plaguing the team — from personal scandal to internal conflicts that led to the departure of several senior staff members, including Adrian Newey.

The situation intensified when support split at the highest management level. Max Verstappen and his father remained loyal to Helmut Marko, while Horner, who initially had backing from the Yoovidhya family — owners of 51% of the company — ultimately lost their trust.

Team performance has also declined over the past 18 months, with inconsistent car development issues and driver changes yielding no results. Laurent Mekies is now appointed to take over leadership and restore team stability.

“If you claim all the successes, you must also bear responsibility for the failures,” as Adrian Newey often said about his works.
