Chivu criticizes Inter Milan’s arrogance after Club World Cup elimination

Cristian Chivu expressed his disappointment after Inter Milan’s elimination from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the round of 16.

Last season’s Champions League runners-up had to acknowledge Fluminense’s superiority with a 2-0 score at Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte — German Cano and Hercules Pereira became the decisive factors for the Brazilian representative’s victory.

Despite dominating ball possession up to 68 percent and recording 16 shots compared to the opponent’s 10, Inter failed to maximize their chances — two shots from Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco only hit the goalpost.

“The boys played too complicated and arrogantly. They forgot the simple way to score goals when facing solid defense,” said the Romanian coach.
