Chinese mixed doubles pair Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi plan to file an official protest through Chinese Badminton Association (CBA) to BWF regarding their controversial loss at Asian Championships 2025.

The seventh seeds — who won Orleans Masters last year — had to acknowledge defeat to young Indonesian pair Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu with scores of 21-14, 15-21, 19-21 at Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Controversy emerged during deciding game when Cheng Xing received yellow card from umpire for time-wasting — despite Chinese pair leading at that point with score of 18-17.

This defeat became major blow for host nation China — considering Cheng/Zhang were one of four seeded pairs expected to achieve success in this tournament.
