Chicharito Apologizes for Controversial Sexist Comments

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has been sanctioned by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) following a series of controversial comments about women on social media.

The 37-year-old striker wrote statements considered demeaning to women — claiming that women were “eradicating masculinity” and making society “hypersensitive.”

“I deeply regret any confusion or discomfort my recent words have caused. As a father, a man, and a member of this community, my priority is to act with respect, humility, and responsibility,” Hernandez wrote in his apology.

The FMF has fined the former Manchester United player for “promoting sexist stereotypes.” Chivas club has also taken internal actions regarding this incident.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to the situation — calling Chicharito’s views very sexist and asserting that “women can be whatever we want.”

Since returning to Chivas early last year, Mexico’s all-time leading goalscorer has only scored twice. He hasn’t represented El Tri for about six years.
