Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik Ready for Malaysia Masters after Thailand Open Triumph

Fresh off their victory at the Thailand Open, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik have set their sights on winning the Malaysia Masters 2025, set to be held at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur from May 21 to May 25.

The Malaysian pair carry strong momentum into the tournament, having also secured the 2025 Asian Championships earlier this season. Their performance puts them among the favorites to claim the title on home soil.

Indonesian contenders missing from lineup

Chia/Soh’s chances appear even stronger this year due to the absence of Indonesian men’s doubles pairs. Indonesian players — now under the guidance of Herry Iman Pierngadi at the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) national training center — are notably absent from the draw.

This gives the Malaysians a clearer path, though they remain cautious of other top contenders.

Strong international competition expected

The Malaysia Masters still promises stiff competition from several world-class duos:

  • Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (Denmark)

  • Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi (Japan)

  • Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang (China)

These top-seeded pairs will provide a significant challenge for Chia/Soh, who aim to capitalize on their winning rhythm and delight the home crowd.
