Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei Pull Out of 2025 Asian Championships Amid Rift Rumors

According to Bolasport.com, Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei have officially withdrawn from the 2025 Asian Championships in Ningbo, China.

The decision, announced by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), came amid mounting speculation about internal tensions within the pair. Ranked world number four, Chen and Toh were scheduled to compete from April 8–13 but will now miss the prestigious tournament.

While tournament withdrawals can be attributed to injuries or health concerns, rumors of a rift between Chen and Toh have intensified following a string of poor performances early this year.

Pressure and Recent Defeats Fuel Speculation

The duo’s struggles were highlighted after two consecutive defeats to Indonesian pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja:

  • At the Orleans Masters

  • Again at the All England Open 2025

Pressure and high expectations are believed to have impacted their performance, with reports suggesting growing friction behind the scenes.

Further updates regarding the pair’s future plans are expected from BAM in the coming weeks.
