Chelsea Reach £60 Million Agreement for Brighton’s João Pedro

According to ESPN sources, João Pedro is set to join Chelsea after both clubs reached a transfer agreement worth £60 million — consisting of £55 million initial fee and £5 million in add-ons.

The Brazilian striker chose Stamford Bridge as his primary destination — despite interest from Newcastle United. Brighton will also receive a percentage of any future sale of the player.

Pedro is scheduled to undergo medical tests in the coming days to be registered for the Club World Cup. Chelsea will face Palmeiras in the quarter-finals in Philadelphia.

Unlike Jamie Gittens who cannot play due to representing Borussia Dortmund in the group stage, Pedro can still be registered before Thursday’s deadline. Their arrivals along with Liam Delap — purchased for £30 million from Ipswich Town — make Christopher Nkunku’s future increasingly uncertain after his failed transfer to Bayern Munich.
