Chelsea Loans Young Belgian Goalkeeper to Strasbourg

Chelsea has made the decision to loan Mike Penders to French club Strasbourg for the upcoming season. The young Belgian goalkeeper — who was purchased by The Blues from KRC Genk for 20 million euros last summer — will embark on a new loan spell.

Following his move to London, Penders — currently 19 years old — was immediately loaned back to his former club Genk for the 2024-2025 season. Despite being included in Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad this year, the young keeper hasn’t received any playing time.

The decision to loan him to Strasbourg was taken to provide Penders with an opportunity to gain more experience at the professional level.
