Chelsea End Four-Year Curse With Win Over Liverpool

Chelsea finally broke their curse by defeating Liverpool, who were recently crowned Premier League champions, at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (May 4, 2025). The Blues gave a guard of honour to Arne Slot’s squad before kickoff.

The victory marked Chelsea’s first win over Liverpool in four years — the last being at Anfield in March 2021. In the previous 10 meetings, Chelsea failed to win, with Liverpool recording five victories and five draws.

Liverpool had already secured the league title last week after a 5-1 win over Tottenham, while Chelsea are still fighting for a Champions League spot next season.

Although the title was already secured, Arne Slot demanded a strong finish from his players to cap off a successful season. However, it was Chelsea who were more desperate for points and ultimately ended Liverpool’s dominance.
