Chelsea Eliminated from Champions League by Barcelona

Sonia Bompastor, head coach of Chelsea, expressed her disappointment after her side was knocked out of the Champions League with an 8-2 aggregate loss to Barcelona in the semifinals.

“Everyone is truly sad and frustrated with this result. We all wanted to perform well. We knew we were facing the best team in Europe,” Bompastor said in her post-match press conference.

Barcelona showcased their dominance with 4-1 victories in both legs — with goals from Aitana Bonmatí, Ewa Pajor, Clàudia Pina, and Salma Paralluelo in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea still has a chance to secure a domestic treble, the Champions League trophy remains elusive. This marks their third consecutive semifinal defeat to the Catalan side.

Barcelona will now face Arsenal — who defeated Lyon in the other semifinal — in the final scheduled for May 24 in Lisbon.
