Chelsea delivered an impressive performance by defeating Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge — a match that highlighted the strength of their midfield built with significant investment.

Enzo Fernández opened the scoring for Chelsea just three minutes into the match with a precise shot after receiving a pass from Pedro Neto. The lead was doubled through an unfortunate own goal when Virgil van Dijk‘s clearance deflected off Jarell Quansah.

The Chelsea midfield, which includes expensive signings like Moisés Caicedo — bought for £115 million from Brighton around two years ago — showed its dominance throughout the game. Romeo Lavia, recently recovered from injury, also made an important contribution.

“When you have Caicedo in front of you, it’s like a dream,” said Cole Palmer after the match. “Since the start of the season, he’s been our best player.”

Virgil van Dijk managed to pull one back for Liverpool in the 85th minute, but Palmer sealed the win for Chelsea with a penalty after Quansah fouled Caicedo in the box.

This victory keeps Chelsea’s hopes alive for a Champions League spot, with crucial matches remaining against Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Nottingham Forest.
