Chelsea Announces Club World Cup Squad, 8 Players Left Out

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has released a list of 28 players who will compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup — a tournament to be held in the United States starting June 14.

This event marks the first edition with a new format featuring 32 teams from various confederations — a format significantly different from previous editions.

In the squad announcement released last night, eight players were excluded from the list:

• Joao Felix
• Raheem Sterling
• Axel Disasi
• Ben Chilwell
• Djordje Petrovic
• Wesley Fofana
• Renato Veiga
• Kendry Paez

The first five players on the list spent most of last season on loan at other clubs — while Wesley Fofana remains in recovery from injury at Cobham.
