Chelsea Agrees Jamie Gittens Transfer from Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has confirmed reaching an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of winger Jamie Gittens — the deal was struck while both clubs were in Fort Lauderdale for the Club World Cup tournament.

The 20-year-old will join The Blues for a £55 million transfer fee and a seven-year contract — salary negotiations are still ongoing.

Gittens joined Dortmund five years ago from Manchester City and recorded 107 appearances with 17 goals across all competitions — last season was his best with 12 goals from 48 matches.

“Jamie Gittens’s career is an example of top talent development at Borussia. We discovered him very early, practically signed him for free, and continuously developed him until providing playing time at the highest level,” said Dortmund Managing Director Lars Ricken.

Chelsea needs reinforcement on the left wing after deciding not to make Jadon Sancho permanent — this transfer complements the summer arrivals of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and João Pedro from Brighton and Hove Albion.
