According to ESPN Brasil, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) plans to hold a meeting to discuss the future of coach Dorival Junior — the meeting was expedited following a heavy defeat to Argentina.

The 4-1 loss in 2026 World Cup qualifying prompted CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues to take swift action. While routine evaluations typically follow international breaks, the poor performance in Buenos Aires has pushed for a more urgent face-to-face meeting with coaching staff.

CBF is considering several names as potential replacements:

  • Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid
  • Filipe Luis from Flamengo
  • Jorge Jesus from Al Hilal

Dorival Junior who took charge early last year has struggled to improve team performance — Brazil was eliminated in Copa America quarter-finals and currently sits fourth in South American World Cup qualifying.

“I never run away from my responsibilities. This is perhaps the most difficult moment in my career, but I’ve never given up,” said Dorival after the loss to Argentina.
