Manchester United midfielder Casemiro expressed his support for the appointment of Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti as the Brazil national team head coach — a decision he considers very fitting for Brazilian football.

Having played under Ancelotti at Real Madrid, Casemiro knows well the Italian coach’s capabilities. Under Ancelotti’s leadership, he won two Champions League titles and one LaLiga trophy.

“After Tite left, I think it had to be him. Brazil needs a professional like him, someone with a big name who can bring respect,” Casemiro told ESPN Brasil.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced that Ancelotti will join on May 26 — making him the first foreign coach to lead the Brazil national team. His first challenge will be the World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

“He’s amazing. The way he talks and understands football is incredible. He has the charisma and ability to make players perform at their best,” added the 33-year-old midfielder.

Brazil currently sits fourth in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers standings. The Seleção must finish in the top six to qualify automatically for next year’s tournament.
