Casemiro: My Most Proud Season at Manchester United

Casemiro, the 33-year-old Manchester United midfielder, described this season as one of the most fulfilling of his career — despite the club currently sitting in 16th place in the Premier League.

The Brazilian, who won 18 trophies with Real Madrid, went through a tough period after new manager Ruben Amorim arrived in November. At one point, he was close to leaving during the January transfer window.

“This is one of the seasons where I feel most proud of myself. When the coach doesn’t count on you, but you keep working hard and doing things well,” Casemiro told ESPN Brazil.

His outstanding performance in the Europa League — including scoring in both legs of the semifinal against Athletic Club — earned praise from club legend Rio Ferdinand, who called him a “warrior.”

“I can only thank him for his words because Rio Ferdinand is one of the idols at Old Trafford. You can see the love the fans have for him, and it makes me proud,” added the former Real Madrid star.
