Canadian GP incident: Norris crashes into teammate Piastri’s car

Lando Norris took full responsibility for the collision with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri on lap 67 of the Canadian GP — an incident that ended his race in disappointing fashion.

In an attempt to overtake the F1 championship leader on the main straight, Norris tried to squeeze through a narrow gap — resulting in his car hitting the rear of Piastri’s before crashing into the barrier.

“I’m sorry. All my bad. All my fault. Stupid from me,” Norris said over team radio.

Despite sustaining damage from the collision, Piastri managed to hold onto fourth position until the finish line — which concluded under safety car conditions.

McLaren immediately launched a review following the incident. Zak Brown, McLaren CEO, had previously stated that contact between his drivers would eventually occur in the title fight.

The incident has left Piastri leading the 2025 F1 drivers’ championship by 22 points over Norris.
