Canada coach Jesse Marsch under Concacaf investigation for rule violations

The Confederation of North and Central American Football (Concacaf) has announced an investigation into the Canadian Soccer Association and head coach Jesse Marsch regarding alleged rule violations.

The probe emerges after Canada’s 6-0 victory over Honduras in the Gold Cup — despite Marsch being absent from the sidelines while serving a two-match suspension.

“The Disciplinary Committee will review all available evidence, including official reports detailing that the CSA and its head coach disregarded regulations applicable to suspended match officials and used offensive language toward CONCACAF match officials,” Concacaf stated.

Marsch’s suspension stems from a red card received during the Nations League third-place match against the United States in March — where he claimed Canada had long been treated disrespectfully by Concacaf match officials.

The 51-year-old Wisconsin native has coaching experience at various clubs — from Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls to European sides Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig, and Leeds United.
