Cagliari asserted their dominance early in the match against Venezia in the latest Serie A fixture. Just four minutes in, Jay Idzes received a yellow card, ruling him out of the crucial match against Juventus next week due to card accumulation.

Yerry Mina opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a precise header to the far post, capitalizing on a well-placed lofted cross from Tommaso Augello, which the Venezia defense failed to handle.

A tactical substitution by the Venezia coach saw Christian Gytkjaer replace Gaetano Oristanio, but it had little impact. Instead, Roberto Piccoli doubled Cagliari’s lead in the 41st minute with a header from Nadir Zortea’s corner, confirmed after a VAR review.

The first half ended with Cagliari leading 2-0 over the visiting side.
