According to BWF rankings update released on Tuesday (15/4/2025), the pair of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto has dropped to world number 5.

The fourth position is now occupied by Malaysian duo Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik — who climbed two spots after winning the 2025 Asian Championships.

Chia/Soh‘s achievement under their new coach Herry Iman Pierngadi comes as a surprise — considering their earlier first-round exit at the 2025 All England Open.

“This victory marks my first achievement since joining BAM,” said Herry IP who started coaching in Malaysia since February.

In the Asian Championships final at Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, Chia/Soh defeated Chinese pair Chen Boyang/Liu Yi with scores of 21-19, 21-17 — ending Malaysia’s Asian title drought since Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah‘s victory in 2007.
