BWF plans to increase Super 1000 tournament prizes from 2027

BWF plans to increase Super 1000 tournament prizes from 2027

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is considering significant changes to its tournament system starting in 2027 — these reforms include extending match duration and increasing prize money, according to The Star.

Former world number one from Malaysia, Roslin Hashim, welcomes the proposed changes.

“This should have been done long ago, but I’m glad BWF is now considering it seriously. This is a positive development for the players,” says Hashim.

Prize money increase becomes the main focus — considering badminton athletes still receive lower earnings compared to other racquet sports. BWF plans to raise Super 1000 tournament prizes like All England from $1.45 million to $2 million for the period 2027 to 2030.
