Bruno Fernandes leads Manchester United delegation to pay respects at Anfield

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, along with Diogo Dalot and coach Ruben Amorim visited Anfield to pay tribute to their fellow countrymen — Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

The Portuguese delegation from Manchester United laid a wreath among the tributes outside Anfield stadium. Fernandes and Dalot who shared a dressing room with Jota in the Portuguese national team — were part of the squad that claimed the Nations League victory last month.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva died in a car accident near Zamora, Spain earlier this month. “Rest in peace Diogo and André,” read the message on the wreath, “With deepest condolences from everyone at Manchester United.”

Liverpool has decided to retire the number 20 across all levels of men’s and women’s teams to honor Jota. The team recently returned to action for the first time since Jota’s passing — in a match against Preston North End filled with various tributes.
