Brunei U-23 team arrives in Jakarta one day before ASEAN Cup match

Brunei Darussalam U-23 national team demonstrates less than optimal preparation — the team arrived in Jakarta just one day before their ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 opening match against Indonesia.

The tournament hosted in Indonesia will begin with two Group A matches:

• Malaysia facing Philippines
• Indonesia meeting Brunei

Indonesia U-23 national team as the host has been preparing since late June — their status as Southeast Asian team with furthest achievement in 2027 World Cup Qualification makes them strong title contenders.

Brunei U-23 national team, ranked 183rd in FIFA, only played one friendly match against DPMM FC, resulting in a heavy 4-1 defeat. Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) decided to send the team to Jakarta on July 14, 2025 — exactly one day before their first match.
