British PM Hosts Special Event to Celebrate 75 Years of Formula 1

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is hosting a special event at 10 Downing Street on Wednesday — welcoming 150 key Formula 1 figures to celebrate the championship’s 75-year milestone.

Modern Formula 1 history began at Silverstone Circuit in 1950 — the venue that will host the next round of this season’s racing calendar.

F1 President Stefano Domenicali will deliver a speech at Downing Street about the growing employment sector in F1 — with nine out of ten current teams based in Britain, including newcomer Cadillac who also maintains facilities in the country. The F1 industry is estimated to contribute around £12 billion annually to the British economy.

At the event, Starmer met with Domenicali, Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang, several past and present drivers, team principals — and F1 Academy CEO Susie Wolff.
