Briatore Promises Alpine F1 Victories in 2026 Season

Flavio Briatore, the newly appointed executive advisor of Alpine F1, has assumed a broader role following Oliver Oakes’ resignation as team principal earlier this month.

Facing a difficult 2025 Formula 1 season, Alpine has managed to collect only seven points, prompting a lineup shake-up. Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Doohan after the Miami Grand Prix, signaling a new direction for the struggling team.

2026 and 2027: Ambitious Goals Ahead

In an interview with Le Monde, Briatore boldly declared his ambitions for Alpine’s future:

“In 2026, we can win races, I guarantee it, and in 2027, we want to be title contenders.”

This bold vision is underpinned by Alpine’s decision to switch to Mercedes power units in 2026 — following Renault’s announcement that it will exit Formula 1 at the end of 2025.

Building a New Era Without Verstappen

Briatore acknowledged the competitive gap Alpine faces but remains pragmatic:

“The easiest way to win is to sign Max Verstappen, but we can’t. So we have to work with what we’ve got.”

As a former team leader who guided Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso to championship success at the Enstone-based squad, Briatore is now in charge of overseeing operations — although he is currently ineligible to formally hold the team principal title.
