CBF Plans To Announce New Brazil National Team Coach Next Week

CBF sets timeline for coach announcement

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), represented by national team director Rodrigo Caetano, has confirmed plans to announce the new head coach of the Brazil men’s national team by the end of next week.

“We know that choosing the coach of the Brazilian national team is a matter of national importance and carries enormous responsibility, but we intend to make a decision by the end of next week at the latest,” Caetano told Sportv.

Ancelotti still the main target

Carlo Ancelotti, who remains under contract with Real Madrid until June 2026, continues to be Brazil’s primary candidate following Tite’s departure after the 2022 World Cup. However, concerns over timing and financial negotiations could hinder the agreement.

Jorge Jesus — who recently left his position with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal — is reportedly being considered as an alternative option.

Upcoming fixtures and squad preparations

The CBF hopes to have the new coach in place before announcing the squad on May 26 for the World Cup qualifying matches against:

  • Ecuador

  • Paraguay

Brazil is currently in fourth place in the South American qualifiers, trailing Argentina by 10 points, with the reigning champions already qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
