Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 movie impossible without Lewis Hamilton

Joseph Kosinski, director of the new Formula 1 film, reveals that the movie starring Brad Pitt would not have been possible without Lewis Hamilton‘s help. This Apple Original production is scheduled for release in theaters and IMAX in late June 2025.

Hamilton, the 40-year-old driver now racing for Ferrari, serves as co-producer through his Dawn Apollo production company. Kosinski — who previously directed Top Gun: Maverick — first approached Hamilton to ensure the film’s authenticity.

“I sent him an email and just said ‘I want to tell the story in your world. I want to make it as authentic as possible. Will you help me?'” Kosinski shared.

Hamilton’s contributions span various aspects — from technical consultation to liaising with Formula 1. He also acted as a driving advisor for Pitt and his co-star Damson Idris.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer emphasized Hamilton’s detailed input — including ensuring correct gear shift sounds at every corner of Silverstone circuit. Hamilton himself believes that Pitt’s speed in the film feels genuine and it will be the most authentic racing film ever made.
