The Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt marks an impressive debut — earning $10 million from domestic preview screenings, establishing itself as Apple Original Films’ first major success.

The film featuring Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, and Kerry Condon collected $7.2 million from Thursday night screenings alone — figures that demonstrate strong audience interest in racing films.

Amid intense box office competition, the film competes with several major titles:

  • How to Train Your Dragon – earning $176.6 million domestic
  • 28 Years Later by Danny Boyle – $38.7 million domestic
  • M3GAN 2.0 – $1.5 million from previews

Director Joseph Kosinski has already discussed potential crossover sequel plans with Days of Thunder:

“We could discover that Cole Trickle and Sonny Hayes have a past as rivals who crossed paths on the track”

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer also opened the possibility of a sequel with conditions:

“That’s up to you. If many people watch it, we’ll figure out how to make another one”
