Brad Pitt finally tests real F1 car with McLaren

Brad Pitt — star of the upcoming Formula 1 film — has just received a special opportunity to drive a real F1 car for the first time. McLaren confirmed to Motorsport.com that they held a private test session at Circuit of the Americas this week.

The McLaren team hinted at the test through social media — sharing an image of racing overalls with Pitt’s initials and the caption “It’s a Sonny day in Austin.”

The veteran Hollywood actor flew to Texas after attending his F1 film premiere in New York, where he plays a fictional racer named Sonny Hayes. Lando Norris joined the test location after the premiere event, while Oscar Piastri headed straight to Circuit of the Americas for the TPC session.

Interestingly, Pitt’s F1 debut took place with McLaren — not Mercedes who served as the main partner in the film’s production. In the film, Pitt and his co-star Damson Idris drive F2 cars modified by the German team.

The F1 film starring Pitt is scheduled to release in United States theaters on June 27.
