Boca Juniors defender fails to attend Club World Cup due to US visa issues

Ayrton Costa, Boca Juniors defender, faces a serious obstacle ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup — his visa application to enter the United States has been rejected.

The Argentine club confirmed that the player, who was prepared as a key player, received two visa rejections from US authorities.

While the club did not detail the reasons for rejection, Costa’s criminal record from seven years ago is suspected to be the main factor — he was involved in an attempted robbery case with violence in the densely populated area of Bernal, Argentina.

The case that occurred in 2018 ended with Costa being given probation to avoid trial proceedings.
