Bobby/Melati Eliminated in Thailand Open 2025 First Round

Indonesian mixed doubles duo Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti concluded their run at the Thailand Open 2025 after a first-round loss at Nimibutr Stadium, Patumwan.

The world No. 63 pair faced a tough challenge against Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui, the fourth seeds from China, and were defeated in straight games: 14-21, 12-21.

Match lasted only 32 minutes

The 32-minute match showcased the dominance of the Chinese pair, currently ranked 6th in the world. Although Bobby/Melati managed to match their opponents on six occasions, they were ultimately overpowered.

Defeat ends potential all-Indonesian clash

With this loss, the hope for an all-Indonesian encounter in the second round vanished. Had they won, Bobby/Melati would have faced Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah. Despite their efforts, they had to concede the match to the superior form of Guo/Chen.
