Fnatic’s in-game leader, Jake “Boaster” Howlett, expressed deep disappointment in his own performance following his team defeat to Paper Rex in the Masters Toronto 2025 last Monday (23/06).

Fnatic entered the Masters as the top seed but stumbled in the playoffs, falling to the lower bracket after a loss to Gen.G. Despite this setback, their strong lower bracket run convinced many fans they could overcome the common curse of top seeds underperforming.

Unfortunately, the curse held as Fnatic couldn’t counter PRX’s strategies in the best-of-five final. Though they put up a fight, Boaster and his teammates struggled in the late stages, ultimately falling to the Singaporean powerhouse.

In a Toronto interview, Boaster then revealed the team’s frustration at repeatedly missing crucial opportunities to stop PRX. The British player felt he personally should have anticipated their defeat by trying harder.

“Paper Rex, I’m happy for them. But at the same time, I’m just so disappointed in myself. I could have done more for the team.”

However, the other Fnatic players seemed less discouraged by the loss. They committed to working harder to fix their mistakes and perform better in future major tournaments.
