Bitter Debut for Chinese Men’s Doubles at China Open 2025

Chinese men’s doubles pair Ren Xiang Yu/Sun Wen Jun experienced an unfortunate debut — getting eliminated in the first round of China Open 2025 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou.

This new duo had to acknowledge the superiority of Malaysian representatives Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi despite full support from the home crowd. The Chinese senior-junior combination showed lack of partnership — especially Sun Wen Jun who often became the target of opponents’ attacks.

Ren/Sun’s game was mostly defensive relying on drives — they rarely got opportunities to launch attacks. The 22-year-old Sun Wen Jun appeared to struggle with anticipating opponents’ play and frequently made unforced errors.
