Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema to face each other at Euro 2025

England striker Beth Mead expressed her hope that her partner Vivianne Miedema performs well at Euro 2025 — except when Netherlands faces England in the upcoming Group D match.

Miedema, who now plays for Manchester City and holds the Women’s Super League scoring record, developed a relationship with Mead during their time together at Arsenal.

“When the draw was made, we both sat there and said ‘of course that’s happened’,” Mead told reporters.

“We’re both very competitive and professional. We’re both excited for the tournament and to be able to play in it again. We keep in contact but when it gets closer to our games, we don’t talk football whatsoever. Obviously, we want each other to do well — but not against each other.”

England will begin their campaign against France, while Netherlands will face Wales in their group opener.
