Bernard Tomic Eyes Wimbledon Return with Grit-Fueled Comeback

Australian tennis veteran Bernard Tomic is turning heads again with a powerful return to form on grass. The former world No. 17 has qualified for the Mallorca ATP 250 main draw—his first tour-level appearance since 2021—by claiming two gritty wins over top-100 opponents, including No. 77 Aleksandar Kovacevic.

The 32-year-old’s performance comes after months of quiet grinding on the Challenger and ITF circuits, climbing from a low of world No. 825 in 2022 to his current rank of No. 243. Tomic’s victory over Kovacevic marks his first top-100 win in over two years, signaling a possible second wind in his often-controversial career.

Interestingly, while many expected him to enter Wimbledon qualifying next week, Tomic opted for Mallorca instead, suggesting a more strategic and measured approach to his comeback. His decision paid off, earning him a slot in the main draw where he now faces fellow Aussie Rinky Hijikata in the opening round.

“I’ve worked hard to get back to this level,” Tomic said in a recent post-match interview, reflecting his focus and determination.
