Ben Kennedy to decide NASCAR Mexico’s future within two months

According to Motorsport.com, Ben Kennedy — NASCAR senior executive and great-grandson of founder Bill France — will make a crucial decision regarding the future of NASCAR racing in Mexico.

After completing the first year of contract with OCESA — the Mexican event organizer — NASCAR now faces complex scheduling challenges. The circuit’s location far from the US border makes logistics a major obstacle.

“We had a full contract with an extension option, and I will make a decision in one or two months,” stated Kennedy.

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez already has a packed schedule for 2026:

  • Formula E in January
  • Potential IndyCar race in early year
  • Formula 1 in October
  • Regular concerts held at circuit areas

“The beauty of our sport lies in its uniqueness — aggressive racing, three to four cars wide heading into Turn 1, and lots of physical contact. That’s our DNA,” explained Kennedy.

Montreal has emerged as an alternative international location with easier logistics — however NASCAR remains optimistic about the enthusiastic Mexican market potential.
