Bayern Munich Officially Signs Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen

Bayern Munich have officially secured the services of Jonathan Tah, the towering Germany international centre-back, from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bavarian giants had been tracking Tah since 2024, after the player rejected a contract extension from Leverkusen — a deal that was set to expire at the end of the 2025 season.

A Decade of Loyalty Ends with Silverware

Jonathan Tah, 28, departs Leverkusen after ten seasons of consistent performances. The 1.95-meter defender played a key role in Die Werkself’s historic unbeaten run last season, where the team clinched both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal (German Cup).

His commanding presence, aerial strength, and leadership were instrumental in making Leverkusen one of Europe’s most exciting teams under Xabi Alonso.

Leverkusen Face a New Era Under Ten Hag

Tah’s departure signals the start of a major rebuild for Leverkusen, now under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, who takes the reins following Xabi Alonso’s move to Real Madrid.

Replacing a leader like Tah will be no easy task for Ten Hag, especially with Leverkusen set to defend their titles and make a deeper impact in the UEFA Champions League next season.
