Bundesliga club Bayern Munich confirmed that defender Alphonso Davies suffered an ACL ligament injury in his right knee while representing Canada — the 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for several months.

The injury occurred in the 12th minute during the Concacaf Nations League third-place match between Canada and the United States. The situation worsened for Bayern Munich as defender Dayot Upamecano also experienced issues with his left knee joint.

“There’s always a risk of players returning with injuries during international breaks — this time it has hit us particularly hard,” said Bayern Munich’s Sports Director, Max Eberl.

Bayern Munich, currently leading the Bundesliga with a six-point advantage over Bayer Leverkusen, must navigate a busy schedule:

  • League match against St. Pauli

  • First leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Inter Milan

Davies will receive all the support he needs for recovery. We will also monitor Upamecano‘s condition in the coming weeks. Our squad is strong and will be able to cope with their absence,” added Eberl.

With crucial fixtures ahead, Bayern Munich faces a challenging period as they aim to maintain their dominance in both domestic and European competitions.
