Bayer Leverkusen Target Liverpool Young Defender Jarell Quansah

According to ESPN sources, Bayer Leverkusen are in negotiations with Liverpool to acquire Jarell Quansah — the 22-year-old center-back who signed a five-year contract with The Reds last October.

Quansah — who joined Liverpool’s academy at age five — made his first-team debut against Newcastle United in August 2023. Last season marked his breakthrough under Jürgen Klopp with 33 appearances across all competitions.

The England U-21 international has struggled for playing time under new manager Arne Slot — starting only four Premier League matches. Liverpool and Leverkusen have maintained good transfer relations, marked by Jeremie Frimpong’s move to Anfield and the Florian Wirtz transfer agreement.

If Quansah departs, Liverpool will need to find a replacement — considering center-back Ibrahima Konaté’s contract expires next season.
