Bayer Leverkusen sign Jarell Quansah from Liverpool for 30 million pounds

Jarell Quansah has completed his move to Bayer Leverkusen from Liverpool for an initial fee of 30 million pounds, with potential performance-related bonuses worth 5 million pounds.

The 20-year-old center-back — who came through Liverpool’s academy since age five — made his senior debut against Newcastle United in August 2023. His breakthrough season under Jürgen Klopp proved successful with 33 appearances across all competitions.

Despite being part of England’s U-21 European Championship winning squad, Quansah struggled for playing time last season — starting only four Premier League matches under manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool still sees great potential in Quansah and has included a buy-back clause in the agreement with Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds have been active this summer transfer window, signing Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, along with Hungarian defender Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
